July 2017
This past month a group of 33 volunteers from the Hope Youth Corps spent 2 weeks at Oasis Haiti. From July 11 to 25, they gave up their summer to help us finish rebuilding the orphanage, getting involved in the community, spending quality time with kids, and bringing hope to the many families in need!
But it wasn’t just work, the youth had some time to “play” at the beautiful beaches of Haiti.
While we were in Haiti, we were so excited to welcome a new child to the orphanage. Widley is adorable and bright! He adapted quickly to his new home and loved hanging out with the youth. He took an immediate liking to William from Texas.
We are also very happy to welcome Andrée-Rose and Enelson, their aging grandmother couldn’t take care of them anymore. Oasis Home for Kids will be able to give them the opportunity to go to school, learn to read and write and a chance at a better future!
I was really excited to meet with Olnise again. This past February, her mom passed away and I promised her that I would fulfill her dream; to go to school in a school uniform. I am proud to say that she is doing so well in school and loves putting on her uniform everyday.
Danecheka is the oldest girl and is playing her role well of big sister! We are so proud of her as she is providing a good example. She has a bright future ahead of her!

I’m looking forward to sharing more from our trip, but before I finish I need to praise, Petuel Descardes, the Director of Oasis Home for Kids. He has done a great job these last few months in overseeing the rebuilding of the orphanage, managing the kids, staff, and bringing help to so many families.
Please consider donating to Oasis Haiti. I have seen first hand the benefits and joy the orphanage and Microloan Program has brought to locals. We need all the help we can get to continue to expand and help those in need.
